Revision Tips

A bit ironic seeing as my last post mentioned my lack of motivation but hey ho. Sorry, this is a ridiculously boring subject but if someone told me these tips before I started 6th form I reckon my grades would be completely different. I really do not what the same thing to happen to you so here we go.

1. Past Papers- I know what you're thinking "I'll only end up revising what is on those papers, instead focusing on what could be asked generally", I was exactly the same. I thought I should know the basics before I even looked at past papers, until I actually tried it.

2. Que Cards- I used to think they were useless too! Until I found out that I was writing down the wrong things. I tried writing down the correct answers from the mark scheme once I got a question wrong but phrasing the question in a more general way and it worked.

3. Marking the paper as you go along- This saves time and gives you an incentive. Once you get a question write, it gives you more of a drive to carry on. It also makes the whole thing a little bit less monotonous.

4. Revise the que cards and then do the same paper again- I know it sounds stupid but you should theoretically get 100% after revising the que cards. This eliminates your strong points and lets you focus on your new weaknesses.

5. Try and gain audio explanations- I find this is key if you have taken a science but it can also be helpful in subjects like English too. This was you do not feel guilty about leaving your work and the concept drills into your head, just as the words to a song do.

6. Listen to music- Not rock, dance or anything heavy but maybe acoustic songs, Spanish guitar or classical music. This stops you from getting lost in your own thoughts and makes you concentrate on the task at hand.

7. Cram- This one is a bit controversial but personally  if my exam is later int he afternoon, I'll go to the library to go over the key bits one more time and anything I've forgotten to cover. It may only store in your short-term memory but at least it's there!

My advice may not work for everyone, so I am really sorry if this does not help. These tips would probably be more useful if you are kinesthetic/visual learner.

Good Luck!

Style Icon: #6 Peaches Geldoff

Although she may be a little controversial, she always depicts wearable fashion. She doesn't go to "gaga"at events but she still sets new trends, I'm convinced she put the beanie back in fashion and that's been frequently featured in my wardrobe. Here I have featured two pictures that really convey what I mean. So what do you think? Is she one of your style icons, or am I completely alone on this one?

Today I have been majorly procrastinating! I know my exams are really, really soon and I haven't even started my portfolio but every time I peak at the computer, blogspot and facebook just seem so much more entertaining. Any tips? I really need to get on it! I am still in my pj's as well so unless you want to see bedroom chique I think I'll save the outfit of the day for tomorrow. Hope you're all enjoying your penultimate day of the year.

Till next time!

She's got you high and you don't even know it

Had to run a few errands today so I just chucked on something warm. This exceptionally toasty jumper is a definite closet essential. Especially when we are all shivering our way through winter. I found it in the men's section of my local charity shop, you should really try it out! Menswear always gives off a laid back vibe and and the clothes are also extremely comfortable. I have been trying to set up an ISA account to try and save  my Christmas money but booking an appointment has proven to be impossible at this time of year. Oh well, more money to spend I guess!

Scarf: Primark
Shirt: Vintage
Jumper: Thrifted
Jeans: Newlook
Shoes: Newlook (got them in the sale for £6!!! Such a bargain)

Hugs and Kisses,

Style Icon: #7 Florence Welch

There are so many celebrities that could be considered a "style icon", so I have had to concise the list quite a bit. I thought it would be nice for you all to see who inspire me and those who have quite frankly helped to make fashion what it is today. She does not really need an introduction, Florence is just incredible! She depicts all the stylistics of our generation, studs, feathers, crosses, vintage knock offs and of course her red hair which everyone seems to be mimicking. Her music is just as awe inspiring to be honest, making quite depressing subjects seem upbeat and joyful. Her songs certainly light up a bad day. Love, love, love her.

Let me know what you think!

Christmas Spirit

Not too sure why my blog appears to have Spanish surroundings? oh well. My grandparents have gone for a nap so I thought I'd make a quick post before diving into some more Christmas pud. I saw this advert around a month go and absolutely sobbed it's sooooo touching. Just to spread around more Christmas spirit, here it is. Hope you enjoy it just as much as I do!

Lots of Christmas cheer,

Welcome...

Hey hey hey,

Thought I'd start writing a blog because making videos has proven to be extremely difficult whilst studying for my exams! Blog posts are much quicker, especially as I do not have to faff around with the editing. It took me a whole evening just to upload one video! It is a real shame because I found making videos is incredibly fun (even the editing) but I will still be uploading whenever I can.

My posts are going to contain a real mish-mash of things. Obviously, it will be mostly fashion and beauty related but there may be posts on my everyday life on here too.

At the moment I am on holiday in Tenerife, basking in the sun, drinking cocktails and generally enjoying the beautiful weather. We've been quad biking, getting our feet eaten (by tiny, harmless fish but still) and experiencing new delicacies, so I will definitely have to show you the pictures on my return!

Until next time,
Tam
